Plaid Slam TV Debate Stitch Up

Plaid Cymru Westminster Candidate for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr Jonathan Edwards has slammed a political stitch up over the proposed election TV debates. Mr Edwards claimed that it was further evidence that the political establishment was acting in its own interests and ignoring the people of Carmarthenshire and Wales.

Jonathan said:

“It is clear that these debates will have an influence on how people vote, and the fact that Plaid Cymru – the voice of Wales is excluded flies in the face of democracy. Local papers will now play an even more important role in ensuring that the electorate of constituencies such as Carmarthen East and Dinefwr get a true reflection of the choice they face come polling day – a discredited and self serving London political elite made up of Labour, the Tories and Lib Dems or Plaid the true voice of our communities.”

“Plaid are in the running to win the three Carmarthenshire seats. We currently hold Carmarthen East and Dinefwr at Westminster level. Llanelli is a Plaid v Labour marginal and Carmarthen West is a Plaid v Tory marginal. These debates won’t reflect the choice faced by the people of our County.”
