Local Politician Named Chair of Assembly Committee

A local politician has been named as the chair of an influential Assembly Rural Affairs sub committee. Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM has been installed as the committee chair and will have an important role in drawing attention to the problems facing Rural Wales.

Rhodri Glyn Thomas said:

“I am delighted to have been voted in as the chair of this committee. Representing a rural part of Wales presents unique challenges and I am looking forward to aiding the committee in putting those views forward to the Rural Affairs Minister, Elin Jones.”

Adam Price said:

“This is very good news for the constituency. The rural sub committee that Rhodri will be heading up not only looks at important issues in relation to the agriculture industry, which is vitally important to Carmarthenshire, but also the general issues affecting our community life such as the regeneration of our town centres.”

Jonathan Edwards said:

“Rhodri has a great reputation for highlighting local concerns and as chair of this committee he will be ideally placed to bring constituency concerns to the attention of the Minister and the Assembly.”
