Local Backing for Dementia Awareness Week

A campaign aimed at raising awareness on the issue of dementia has been backed by Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM and Jonathan Edwards MP. The county politicians have lent their support the Dementia Awareness week, which takes place in Wales between the 4th – 10th of July. The event calls on people to think about the people they know living with dementia and about the simple things they can do to make life for them more manageable and enjoyable.

Jonathan Edwards MP said:

“This is an issue that many people across the county can relate to. Sadly this is a condition that affects a number of my constituents and it has a wide ranging impact on the friends and family of those that suffer from it. It is important that county residents use this week as a springboard to looking at how they can play an active role in helping people with dementia.”

Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM added:

“I am pleased to back this event and hope that many people take the time to become more aware of the causes of dementia and how it is diagnosed. There is a lot that can be done in the early stages of diagnosis which will have significant impact on how the disorder is managed in the long term, which is why this is such an important campaign.”
