Carmarthen East and Dinefwr’s New MP Heads to Westminster

Carmarthen East and Dinefwr’s new Member of Parliament was joined by supporters as he took his maiden voyage up to Westminster. Jonathan Edwards, who successfully won the seat vacated by Adam Price was seen off by friends, family and members of the public from the constituency as he went up to London as an MP for the first time.

Jonathan Edwards MP said:

“It was great to see people turn up to wave me off. I remember joining Adam Price as he took his first trip up to London and to be given the same send off was very humbling. As was the case with Adam, and with all Plaid Cymru MPs, I will be going to London to be Carmarthen East and Dinefwr’s voice there not London’s voice here.

The last few months of campaigning have been a fantastic experience but the real work starts here.”

Rhodri Glyn Thomas said:

“It is great to see Jonathan heading up to London with such enthusiasm. It is clear for anyone who has come across him during the campaign that he is a committed politician that has a real passion for the constituency. I have no doubt that he will have a real impact at Westminster and will prove an excellent public servant for West Wales.”
