Amman Valley MP and AM send condolences following tragic mining incident

In a joint statement, Jonathan Edwards MP and Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM said:

“The news of the tragic incident, in which 4 miners have lost their lives, has resonated with communities throughout Wales and the World.

“Mining communities have always had a special strength in unity. This unity has echoed through the Swansea and Amman Valleys as the terrible news filtered through.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the miners and with the community at this very difficult time. Our thoughts are also with those miners who were able to escape the tragic incident and we wish them a speedy recovering in hospital.

“It has been an undoubtedly challenging time for the rescue services which have been of the highest professional standard and must be commended for their tireless efforts.

“It goes without saying our office is open to any constituent who has been affected by these tragic events.”
